The first step towards your Invisalign® smile begins with a digital model of your teeth. We use our digital scanner technology to quickly capture images of your teeth and create a 3D model of your bite. The best part - there are no messy dental impressions to fuss with; the entire process is digital.
Dr. Thomas will thoroughly examine your teeth and review digital x-rays to finalize your Invisalign® treatment plan. Once complete, he sends your treatment plan instructions to the Invisalign® laboratory to design your aligners.
As part of the planning process, Dr. Thomas will use the 3D software capabilities of Invisalign software to show you a ‘sneak preview’ of your planned tooth movement and the expected treatment results. You will see your teeth ‘move’ into alignment on a computer screen.
Your Invisalign® aligners are created at the Invisalign® laboratory using a 3D printing process. The clear aligners are worn in sequence; each set (upper and lower) is worn for a few weeks. Dr. Thomas will check your progress at these intervals and send you home with the next set of aligners. Each new set of aligners provides measured orthodontic movement of your teeth and brings you closer to your new smile.
Treatment times for Invisalign vary, most cases can be completed in less than 18 months. We recommend that you wear your aligners for most of the day (20-22 hours) to achieve the planned tooth movement.
